Water tank emptying tooooo sloooow
Before each trip I like to empty my water tank and fill it with fresh water. I only fill it one third full if going to a known campground with wife tasting approved water. On my ’95 Rexhall the tank emptied in 15-20 minutes. But the new 2000 with the tank under the floor takes a looong time. Particularly if it is nearly full.
The Company is aware of this(and vows to fix it), since it is a time issue for their people too, emptying each tank after test filling it. But that fix won't help you and me.
At the 2000 Lancaster Rally, I spoke to one of the RV technicians who said “Oh, that’s easy, we just turn on all the faucets and toilet and drain the water tank into the holding tanks. Works real fast.” “Great idea” sez I.
On the way home, I had a second thought. Now if I empty all the water into the holding tanks, then I am going to have to empty them. This may not end up saving me much time.
But what if I turn on my outside shower, and let the water pump empty the tank onto the ground while the main tank drain is running on the ground too. All I have to do is remember to turn off the shower and the pump before it runs dry.
Now if only I could only remember to open the water tank drain valve the night before……
