Outside shower extension
We don’t often take our showers outside. But we do like the outside shower very much for washing off our feet and the dog after a day of running in the sand and surf of the ocean.
But the trouble is that the supplied hose is not long enough to reach our feet or dog.
So, I looked in our local RV parts store, and found what I needed. First, unscrew the shower head from the hose. Then buy a connector, and another piece of 5 foot shower hose. Screw the shower head on one end of the new piece of hose and the connector on the other end.

Now personally, I have never liked pushing the shower hose back in, having it snake all around my under the sink items, only to tangle unmercifully when I try to pull the hose back out. Plus I don’t care for the air leak around the hose opening. So I sprayed foam on the inside under the sink, both plugging the leak and securing the hose in the out position.
There is plenty of room for the hose to coil up and fit inside the outside shower door. The new 5 foot hose, with the connector on one end and the shower head on the other, stores in the basement adjacent to the shower. When you are ready, open the shower door, screw the other hose on at the connector (remember the rubber washer) and the hose reaches easily to the ground. It’s only a few dollars and very easy.
For those of you who saw Ken Wilson’s windshield washer hose article in January 2000 FMCA, this arrangement makes adding his hose extremely easy. Simply buy 30 feet of half inch clear plastic tubing, a male and a female connector for each end, and you have a shower head that will reach 40 feet. Now you can wash down the entire campsite.
