Is  the  Light  on?

While not a Rexhall owner yet, ( looking for a 3550BSL)  I am a long time RVer and like to tinker.  I have included some ideas of projects that I plan on using in my next RV.

We all have forgotten to turn off the outside lights at one time or another.  I have 6 switches by the front door. 2 are for the 2 security lights, (left and right side), 2 are for the porch and step light. the next 2 are for the living room light and the other is a spare and not connected.   The living room lights do not have LED's in them.  I can usually tell when the inside light is on.  Duh

.I inserted simple LED "indicator lights" on each of the outside switches.  The LEDs comes on when that switch to an outside light is on.  The LED's were bought from Radio Shack #276-209.  You can see it here.

One wire of the LED is attached to the 12 volt side of the switch.  The other to ground.  Since the switches are close to the outside door, ground was obtained from the metal framing around the entrance door. The LED's are a press fit in the holes on the frame that holds the switches.  The holes in the cover plate were drilled a hair bigger.   You could glue the LED's in place in you wanted.  I used a piece of foam rubber behind the LED's and it is held by the wall material.

Some of you may recall my attempts to accomplish the same end with the rocker switches on the kitchen monitor panel.  My tacky white paint is unfortunately no match for Jim's ingenuity and execution.    doug
