Runway Lights
Here is something that worked for me on my 99 Rexair with indirect lighting for night driving with passengers, mine has no isle lights. My driving is mostly at night with passengers. At times they had trouble moving around in the dark or with the overhead light on in the back. It was a little bright for the driver area and reflection off the windshield. After several months searching the internet and RV catalogs for 12 volt lighting that would work I found a simple answer with no wiring.
I found a new item on the market, it is the Sylvania DOT. It is a battery operated LED light for under $9.00 and can be bought at Lowes and Menards. They turn on and off simply by pressing the center of the light, uses 3 AAA batteries (included), lasts about 100 hours and uses tape to mount it. I used Velcro for easy removal to replace the batteries when needed.
I have a free standing dinning room table and put it under the end of the table between the leg (center isle side) and brace (just fits). The light shines down on the leg and floor, illuminating the area/floor in the Living/dinning area and hall without blinding the driver. It worked so good I also put one under the cabinet to the right of the microwave to put an extra glow on the counters if needed while moving. The table one has been used for three all night driving trips and it is still as bright as when I got it, with the original batteries.
Works great. I have indirect lighting on the floor and counter with only $18.00 invested (I had the Velcro), 15 minutes in the dark finding the right place, no drilling holes, running wire, installing switches and the driver (me) loves them. It works fine for me with my night driving and it’s very simple. Even those who do not enjoy night driving have to do it now and then.
