Nite driving glasses

Many years ago I bought one of the first blue blocker sun glasses. Each wavelength(color) of light is focused at a different depth in the eye, and not all are focused directly on the retina. By blocking the blue wavelength light that enters the eye, the image you see is more crisp and clear. I thought it was all hype, but they do really work. I still have them.

On a number of occasions when driving as the sun goes down, I have forgotten to take them off. I was impressed with the fact that I could still see with them in the dark, and that they significantly decreased the glare from oncoming headlights and too bright streetlights.

Fast forward about 20 years. After finding the gutter blaster in the Miles Kimball catalogue www.mileskimball.com (see article elsewhere on the site), Linda saw the night driving glasses, item 507228, only $3. Remembering my previous experience, I allowed her to order them (right, like I have any impact at all on such decisions).

If I am driving in pitch blackness with no oncoming traffic, on high beams, I think I can see a tiny bit farther without the glasses than with them on. But with any glare, the glasses are a very definite help. I can see farther down the road in the headlight’s glare with the glasses on, than with them off. No question. And it is a lot easier on the eyes. Helps with the headlights in the rear view mirrors too.

We have been very happy with them, and I would recommend them to you, especially since as we age, our night vision does deteriorate.
