Jotto Desk

The Jotto desk http://www.jottodesk.us/ is a good way to mount your laptop in the RV, especially for running your mapping program while en route. Several other authors have recommended it, and for us it looked like the best option.
Since the copilot runs the GPS map program, we mounted the table to the floor in the corner of the dashboard and the right sidewall. This allows the table to be positioned over the dash when not in use, or right in front of the copilot when in use.
The table comes with two different “leg” lengths, one for doghouse mounting and a longer one for floor mounting. Be sure to measure before ordering. The base plate is screwed to the floor. The leg attaches to the base plate, but can easily be detached to remove the entire table. With multiple lever arms, an infinite choice of table positions is possible.
An option when ordering
includes a cable system for holding the laptop on the table. This is probably
superior to the Velcro straps which come standard.
Solo pilots can mount the Jotto close enough to be easily seen. Our Delorme map programs gives verbal instructions and allow verbal questions to be asked the laptop, which then replies.
They are a bit costly, but are a quality item.

PS A competitor of Jotto is the Ram mount table. http://www.ram-mount.com/
And one that attaches to the copilot's chair www.rvlaptopstand.com

I
needed a place to put my laptop in our 96 Aerbus. I was looking at our console
on the doghouse and came up with the following simple solution.
Gordon Cato
Gordon's idea reminded me of the times I have traveled solo and used Linda's Camping World footstool in that location for my laptop..
